Rescue for a man’s Heart
Men,
Life is chaotic! Does that
sound too dramatic? Just look around you. We enter each day with the
reality that the only way to live in this adventure called life, with
all its unpredictability and immensely high stakes, is in an ongoing
intimate relationship with God. However, we have this haunting
question, “How do I do this as a man?” Why do so many men seem bored
and feel so out of place; concluding that their lives have little or no
impact. Perhaps we need to learn to live from the heart and not from a
system or list that has left many of us tired and confused as well as
making us busier than we already are.
Can we live from the heart without fear? In God’s own words He tells us
that we have a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26) and that because we are new
creatures in Christ, we earnestly desire to please God by fulfilling the
destiny he designed for us (II Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 3: 10-17).
Have you given much thought to what it is to be an image bearer of God,
without being driven by fear or guilt? Who a man is in Christ is a lot
more than a generic or theological idea. Our greatest and deepest
desires in life are for God and they are more than fitting into the
program or just being nice and safe. Were those your boyhood dreams, to
just fit in, or was it to be heroic and to make a difference?
Most of you have busy lives and you have trouble thinking about
squeezing in one more thing. However, I want you to seriously think
about getting away from your busy life to spend some time reflecting on
these issues. It will not be a time in which you will come away with a
list of things to do. On the contrary, you may be surprised and
encouraged about who you are and God’s heart for you. We are inviting
you to our “Epic Adventure” weekend. It is a four day quest into the
recovery of your masculine heart.
The adventure begins on a Thursday afternoon and ends Sunday at noon.
We felt it was essential to select a place where you see the beauty of
God’s creation all around you as He transforms you inside. We have
chosen East Texas and Colorado. Take your pick.
